The Palacio de la Magdalena is the most emblematic building in the city of Santander and one of the most outstanding examples of civil architecture in northern Spain.<\/p>\n

It was built between 1908 and 1912 as a gift from Santander to King Alfonso XIII. The monarch and his family enjoyed the Santander summers between 1913 and 1930.<\/p>\n

It is currently a congress center and headquarters of the Men\u00e9ndez Pelayo International University.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Villa Quijano, popularly known as El Capricho, is a modernist building located in the town of Comillas. It was designed by Gaud\u00ed, and built between 1883 and 1885. It is one of the few works that Gaud\u00ed designed outside of Catalonia.<\/p>\n

In 1969 it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest.<\/strong><\/p>\n
